General Information

Welcome to the 2019 Summer Season! Learn how to sail at the Lake Joseph Yacht Club this summer! We are a small community based, volunteer run, non-profit sailing club in the heart of Muskoka on Lake Joe located beside the CNIB summer camp. The LJYC has been around since 1978 and offers a great opportunity for the local community and cottagers, their guests, and renters to get to know their neighbors and develop sailing skills on a friendly basis. We have over 100+ sailors every summer – and are looking forward to including your sailors as one of them! We offer youth courses on a weekly basis from Monday to Friday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. Full Day and Half Day weekly program options –Ages 5 years + Private Adult and Youth Sailing Lessons by request Race Team Sail Canada’s (Canada’s National Sailing Authority) CanSail Program Wetfeet to CanSail 6 Multi-Week Discounts: if a sailor registers for more than 2+ weeks we off a 5% discount that is applied when you register during the check-out process. Note, to access the Sailing School you must purchase either Option # 1,2 or 3 Option #1: FAMILY MEMBERSHIP You can either purchase a Family Sailing Membership for $100. (2 Parents and children under 18, includes grandchildren)

02) INDIVIDUAL SAILOR MEMBERSHIP-SAILING SCHOOL ADMIN FEE

Note, to access the Sailing School you must purchase either Option # 1,2 or 3 Option #2: INDIVIDUAL SAILORS Individual Sailor, Sailing School Admin Fee per child for $ 50 This covers OSA/Sail Canada Membership and Checklick reporting fees.

2019 Individual Sailing Membership-Provides access to Sailing school and covers Sail Canada, Ontario Sailing Fees and Checklick the National Sail Canada reporting tool for sailors to track your sailors progress. Expires December 31, 2019

06) Wetfeet (5-7 years old) FULL Days 9:00 am-4:00 pm

Wetfeet is a Sail Canada developed level geared specifically to our youngest sailors, ages 5-7 years. It has a 1-4 max Instructor to Sailor level and is taught in the OPPI class sailboat. This is a single sail, stable, safe boat which we fondly call a bathtub!!! A special curriculum for young beginners. Introduction to sailing safety, skills and fun on the water. • Safe, fun on the water lessons to introduce young children to sailing • Children will gain confidence in and around boats with a strong emphasis on water safety. For this level to be enjoyable your child should be comfortable in the water! Morning sessions run from 9:00 am-12:00 and Full Day Session run from 9:00 am-4:00 pm ****PLEASE PACK A NUT FREE LUNCH****

12) Teen Fast Start (New Sailors over 12 Years old) FULL DAYS 9:00am-4:00pm

Cansail 1/2 Fast Start program geared to ages 12+ that are new to sailing. Smaller class sizes that are teen specific, geared towards moving through the levels quickly to catch up to their peers who are sailing in the higher levels. We recommend 2 weeks. If you would like to sail only 1 week, please enrol in CANSail 1 FULL DAYS and email info@ljyc.ca to advise your child is 12+ Years.
