Welcome to the 2023 Summer Season! Learn how to sail at the Lake Joseph Yacht Club this summer! We are a small community based, volunteer run, non-profit sailing club in the heart of Muskoka on Lake Joe located beside the CNIB summer camp. The LJYC has been around since 1967 and offers a great opportunity for the local community, cottagers and their guests, to get to know their neighbors and develop sailing skills on a friendly basis. We have over 100+ sailors every summer – and are looking forward to including your sailors as one of them!
We offer youth courses on a weekly basis from Monday to Friday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. Full Day and Half Day weekly program options –Ages 5 years + Private Adult and Youth Sailing Lessons by request and a Race Team. We offer Sail Canada’s (Canada’s National Sailing Authority) CanSail Programming: Levels Wetfeet to CanSail 6 .
NEW: On water boating skills for children or adults in their own boats or in one of our Tin Boats. We will also be offering Children's PCOC review lessons to prepare them to write the online PCOC course.. This will be available during the week days after sailing from 4:30pm-6:30pm.

1)Multi-Week Discounts: if a sailor registers for more than 3+ weeks we off a 5% discount that is applied when you register during the check-out process.
2)Seguin/Muskoka/Parry Sound children attending a local Public School. Discount-REQUIRES PROMO CODE and proof of school attendance required

Wetfeet is a Sail Canada developed level geared specifically to our youngest sailors, ages 5-8 years. It has a 1-4 max Instructor to Sailor level and is taught in the OPPI class sailboat. This is a single sail, stable, safe boat which we fondly call a bathtub!!! A special curriculum for young beginners. Introduction to sailing safety, skills and fun on the water. • Safe, fun on the water lessons to introduce young children to sailing • Children will gain confidence in and around boats with a strong emphasis on water safety. For this level to be enjoyable your child should be comfortable in the water! Full Day Session run from 9:00 am-4:00 pm ****PLEASE PACK A NUT FREE LUNCH****

CANSail 1 & 2 – Fundamental skill acquisition in any type of boat (single / double handed). Fundamental's Level Ages 9-18 or 8 years if they have passed Wetfeet. Similar to White Sail 1. Two weeks or more of FULL DAYS required to acquire the necessary skills and be able to demonstrate them. NOTE, children progress at different paces but 2-3 Weeks back to back of FULL days would be the min. to attain this level
CANSail 1 & 2 – Fundamental skill acquisition in any type of boat (single / double handed). FUNdamentals Level Ages 10-18 Similar to White Sail 2. Three + weeks or more of FULL DAYS required to acquire the necessary skills and be able to demonstrate them. NOTE, children progress at different paces but 3+ Weeks of FULL days would be the min. to attain this level
CANSail 3 & 4 – Applied skill acquisition in any type of boat (single / double handed). Learn to Sail Fast stage CANSail 3: Ages 12-18 Similar to Bronze IV Learn to Race. Four weeks or more of FULL DAYS required to acquire the necessary skills and be able to demonstrate them. NOTE, children progress at different paces but 4+ Weeks of FULL days would be the min. to attain this level You must also purchase a LOG BOOK that can be ordered in the BOOKS section at the bottom of lessons options. CANSail 3 & 4 – Applied skill acquisition in any type of boat (single / double handed). Learn to Sail Fast stage CANSail 4: Ages 12 -18 Similar to Bronze V Learn to Race-Four weeks or more of FULL DAYS required to acquire the necessary skills and be able to demonstrate them. NOTE, children progress at different paces but 4+ Weeks of FULL days would be the min. to attain this level Ages 12-18 MUST SAIL FULL DAYS AT THIS LEVEL, You must also purchase a LOG BOOK if you do not have one already and a Sail Canada / ISAF Racing Rules (2017-2020) book that can be ordered in the BOOKS section at the bottom of lessons options. Your child will receive the following books the first time they register in the level. If they have misplaced the book you can order a new one. Note, books must be completed to pass the level. Wetfeet: Optimist Sailing with Puffy & Friends Book with stickers CANSail 1 & 2 Workbook (1 book for both levels, so make sure you put somewhere safe for the following year) Bronze Workbook (CANSail 3/4) Rules of Racing (CANSail 4-6)
